“English Vinglish” Trailer Review- Appealing and Witty

The trailer of the movie begins with the caption “Its Sridevi Vs English“, and this intent is the core focus of this upcoming movie, much anticipated because of couple of reasons: This comes from the production house of R Balki, who previously rendered  the immensely watchable flick PAA. And most importantly, this film marks the comeback of Sridevi, one of the most illustrious actress of hindi cinema, after a long hiatus of 14 years. So expectations are obviously high when you glean through the first look of English Vinglish, and to be candid enough, you wont be disappointed.  The first look of this film is an absolute delight to watch.

The movie promises an extremely engaging premise, with Sridevi playing the role of a protagonist , enacting the role of a housewife who struggles with her English speaking abilities, and  is repeatedly rebuked and condemned by her own family members. Woven  with some hilarious sequences, how she overcomes this limitation forms the rest of the story.

The cast of the movie boasts of just one known face, and thats, Sridevi, since the rest of the cast includes majorly new actors, including actress Priya Anand, a known face in Telugu and Tamil Cinemas. This film also marks the directorial debut of Gauri Shinde, who has sensibly kept the focus of the trailer on Sridevi, presenting her in each and every frame .

Shot mostly in New York, the trailer delineates a novel and appealing look throughout, contrived with witty and sparking dialogues, the best being  the repartee,  when Sridevi counters her English tutor: ‘” Why its The United States of America, and why not the India”..faboulous.

But its the presence of Sridevi, which makes this trailer such a delight to watch. Watch her tearing expression when her husband demeans her in front of everyone, saying “ My wife is born to make ladoos“, and you will realise what a gifted actor she is.

Watch this trailer for: A novel concept,  sparkling treatment and a delightful Sridevi.
